Hey there!
My name is Steve. These days, I'm a staff software engineer living in Ann Arbor, Michigan with my wonderful fiancée Alaina. I currently work at Color Health, helping to bring equitable healthcare and cancer screenings to everyone. My focus is on developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, and Kubernetes.
Before that, I was the first principal engineer at Rocket Mortgage, where I worked from 2012—2022. I worked on developer tooling and cloud infrastructure here as well, with a focus on deployment pipelines and building tools to safely and securely deploy all services within the company. I introduced terraform and designed the workflow, spreading it to more than a thousand projects!
Here are some of the stuff and thangs I've built:
Check out my silly little side projects, most of which can be found on my GitHub.
- Celery Man - Cinco Identity Generator Web app version of the Adult Swim Celery Man skit.
- Skill Survey Simple single page app for filling out surveys for evaluating skill levels for peers or self-evaluations. Rocket Mortgage used this to power their SDE career assessments.
- HTML Screensaver Clock Colorful HTML clock for use as a screensaver. Single-file html/js clock screensaver with no external dependencies to provide a prettier alternative to the built-in clock screensavers.
- Hal Deployment Platform A deployment portal for software services, Kubernetes, and cloud instructure. During my time at Rocket Mortgage, we used this to power several hundred thousand deployments a year. This is a forked version which is no longer maintained.
- Pinger Internet Connectivity Tester Simple pinger app for testing internet connectivity. By default, google.com is pinged every 5 seconds while the app is enabled.
